ITANAGAR, Oct 29: Arunachal Pradesh Democratic Youth Association (APDYA) and Arunachal Pradesh Nyishi Youth Organization (APNYO) has deferred their proposed 12-hr Capital bandh on October 31 due to ‘un-avoidable’ circumstances, informed both the organizations in a joint press release.

 

Badminton tourney

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The first Misum Kamki Badminton Tournament was organized at Karbak outdoor badminton court, Kamba recently.

Kenjo Karbak and Dengam Yomgam beat the pair of Nyagum Sora and Jumli Lollen in the final to become champion, informed Hirik Hiru Students Union.

Twenty teams took part in the tournament.

ATMA conducts district level training at Tadin

AALO, Oct 29: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), West Siang conducted a district level training at Tadin on “cultivation practices of potato and spraying techniques and judicious use of agro-chemicals” at Tadin on October 25.

About 200 farmers of the densely populated Tadin village have benefited from this day-long training wherein all the PRI members and GBs also attended.

While interfacing with the farmers and PRI members, Karbom Riram, District Agriculture Officer, apprised them about the various schemes being taken up the agriculture department. He exhorted them to maintain good rapport with the departmental officials and avail their technical support and guidance to the fullest extent. Training courses on vector-borne diseases, their control commences

PASIGHAT, Oct 29: A three days training course on vector borne diseases and their control for medical officers of East Siang and Upper Siang districts commenced at General Hospital here today.

Dr. Kaling Tatin, Dr. S Bhattacharjee, Dr. Kaling Jerang and Dr. G Gibi will impart training to the participants as resource persons.

The training program organized under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) under the supervision of Dr. Tarik Talom, District Vector Borne Diseases Control Program Officer (DVBDCPO), was formally inaugurated by East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava today.

 

Orgs demands cancellation of land acquisition

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: Adi Students Union of Lohit and Land Affected Forum Jaipur, in a joint representation, has demanded the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Namsai, Lohit to cancel the acquisition of land for the proposed Divisional Commissioner (East) at Jaipur.

They demanded the authority to make fresh land agreement/acquisition and the compensation should be given as per the rate being offered by Highway, Railways authorities and Hydropower developers.

It also urged the authority through the representation that the affected people should be given first preference in construction, supply works and group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts.

 

DC holds meet with STS staff

DAPORIJO, Oct 29: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu today inspected the Daporijo STS office and held meeting with the staff.

While interacting with the staff of the STS, Taggu informed how he had managed to achieve the revenue target set by Government of India during his tenure as General Manager of the STS during 2004 -2007. He suggested all to work sincerely and with dedication to achieve the set revenue target.

The Station Superintendent of the STS while giving a brief report about revenue earning and bus services, informed that only six buses were in running condition out of the total eight. He sought few more buses to meet the demands. DIPRO

 

Drug de-addiction cum health awareness camp

ROING, Oct 29: Lower Dibang Valley District Medical Authority in collaboration with Brahamakumar Meditation Centre, Roing organized a one-day drug de-addiction cum health awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Bolung here on October 26.

Attending programme DDSE Mijum Lego informed about current scenario of drug abuse in the district and emphasized on regualr conduct of such drug de-addiction awareness camp.

District Medical Officer Dr. A Yirang while highlighting the aims and objectives of the awareness camp asked the students and public of Bolung to refrain from any forms of drugs abuse.

BK Jayanti Devi of Meditation Centre explained in details about various harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on human body through PowerPoint presentation.

Probe into SPA works in Pasighat-East demanded

PASIGHAT, Oct 29: Alleging misuse of public money and gross violation of guidelines in the construction works under Special Plan Allocation (SPA) in Pasighat-East constituency, a section of local people of Yagrung village have lodged complaint with Union Finance Minister and Chief Secretary of the state demanding institution of a high level inquiry into the alleged irregularities.

It may be recalled that Pasighat Water Resource Division (WRD), by Press Tender Notice No-PWRD/TDR-5/ 2013-14 dated July 30, 2013, invited bid tender for “Construction of PHC medical building cum residential quarter at Yagrung village”, funded under SPA for the year 2012-13. The implementing agency later postponed the bid tender citing unavoidable circumstances. However, it continued construction works without tender, keeping the local people in dark.

But, the allegation came to the fore after the implementing agency rescheduled the date of ‘Bid-Tender’ against the project after completion of about 90 percent construction.

As per SPA guidelines, bid tender for all construction schemes by the implementing agency is mandatory.

The estimated cost of the medical building is Rs. 87.91 lakh.

 

Ering urges villagers to support Govt

PASIGHAT, Oct 29: Union Minister Ninong Ering visited some interior villages, including Pareng, Suble, Yinku, Subsing and Sine recently and urged the villagers to support Government in the construction of hydro-power projects.

During his visit to those villages, Ering highlighted the hydro-power potentials of Arunachal Pradesh before the villagers and advocated for establishment of hydropower projects for all round development of the state.

He assured that the government will always safeguard the welfare and interest of the public and their security and safety will be priority of the government. He appealed all to cooperate, especially for the proposed Simang-I and Simang-II HEP. DIPRO

 

Sanjoy lauds Talar

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy today handed over Rs 75,000 to ace shuttler Laa Talar as a token of appreciation and encouragement.

An international shuttler of repute, Talar’s latest appearance in the badminton court saw him walk away with the gold medals in the men’s open and U-19 boys’ singles’ categories in the just concluded NE Zone Inter State Badminton Championship (NEZISBC) here.

Sanjoy also handed over Rs 40,000 to the state’s girls who won medals in the zonal championship.

“Talar will not only bring name and fame to the state but will also do so for the entire country in the days to come,” Sanjoy said while extending his best wishes to the shuttlers.

RGU vice chancellor in-charge KC Kapoor also lauded the ace shuttler for proving his mettle in the NEZISBC.

 

ATSU organizes fire prevention awareness camp  

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: All Tagin Students Union in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Fire and Emergency Service, Daporijo and District Disaster Management Department conducted a fire prevention awareness campaign at Daporijo and Dumporijo on October 26 and 27 respectively.  

The awareness camps aimed at raising awareness of fire safety among the residents in view of the ensuing Diwali and beginning of winter season as house fires become more prevalent with the onset of winter weather.

The ATSU team visited every sector of the township area, met the residents and appealed them to take utmost care and precautions while handling fire to avoid house fire.

The union appealed to the State Government to provide a fire brigade at Dumporijo which is 14 kilometer from Daporijo.

Every year, fire destroy numerous dwelling houses rendering many families homeless in Upper Subansiri.

District Disaster Management Officer cautioned the residents against illegal electricity hooking, one of the major causes of house fires in Daporijo. He also urged the residents to build houses by maintaining distance.

Firefighters of fire department demonstrated methods of putting out fire, various fire safety measures, ways of saving lives in a mock drill.

Workshop on ‘Save Indigenous Rice Varieties’ held at Namsai, Sunpura & Roing

Green Farming Policy--The need of the hour for Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The time has dawned for Arunachal to set in motion a Green Farming Policy to build a prosperous, healthy and happy Arunachal. Only then can we ensure food and economic security for the farmers and a disease free younger generation in the coming decades,” declared C Jayakumar and R Sridhar, experts from ‘Thanal’, a reputed Kerala NGO in the forefront of the national ‘Save Rice Campaign’ and poison-free Holistic agriculture during the last 15 years.

“This is not a matter for just the Govt., the political leaders and farmers, but involves all of you:  doctors, engineers, teachers, students, traders and parents.”

The Thanal team led by Ushakumari, its Director and the National Coordinator of ‘Save Our Rice campaign’, was conducting a series of workshops at Namsai, Sunpura and Roing during its five-day visit to Arunachal, aimed at sensitizing and mobilizing farmers and eco-activists, for taking lead to conserve the rich tradition of rice-and food bio-diversity in Arunachal.

A number of Govt. officials, doctors, NGO activists, teachers, students and villagers, apart from agri-officials attended the workshops, organized jointly by the KhunTa Nau Welfare Society and Lohit Youth Libraries Network in Lohit and by RIWATCH, at Roing.

An exhibition of indigenous rice varieties of Namsai, Wakro, Sunpura and Dibang Valley was an added attraction of the campaign.

Inaugurating the campaign at Namsai, ADC Nilima Kumar appealed to the participants to make the best of the rich expertise of the visiting scientists.

Jayanti Pertin, EAC, guided the discussions jointly with SDAO B Biswas, SDHO B Deb and Dr. Namita Manchekum of ATMA, Namsai. Timita Mungyak, teacher acted as the interpreter.

The guest team also visited Khamti rice fields for a first-hand experience of farming practices.

The ‘Farmers Meet’ at Sunpura organized by Bakhrim Chikro, a leading farmer, saw the active participation of several women and mothers under the guidance of Tengliang Chaitom, a teacher.

Joji Mikhu, an Idu Mishmi elder, elaborated on the traditional linkage between rice cultivation and the Mishmi life in the workshop at Roing.

Welcoming the guests, Vijay Swami, Executive Director, RIWATCH, stressed the importance of initiating a museum/repository nursery of the region’s vast vanishing seed and grain varieties.

S Mundayoor, Coordinator, Lohit Youth Libraries, introducing the guests, said that a major role of the library Network is to strive to promote the love of our heritage and environmental awareness among the common people and youth.

The workshops covered issues like the vanishing rice-strains of Arunachal that led to change in cultivation patterns and food habits, threats of junk-food replacing traditional dishes, increasing threats to India’s rich rice-biodiversity due to the emergence of GM seeds, the devastation of nature and environmental degradation due to the use of chemical pesticides and the resultant serious health problems, not only of farmers, but nearby communities, for decades.

Introducing the workshops, Ushakumari informed that Rice is not just a grain, but a culture for entire South and Eastern India. While we had in 1966, 3 lakh varieties of rice-strains, we have lost most of them, many of them medicinal “Kerala, which had 3000 varieties have today just 160 and 90% of Kerala’s rice needs to come from other states, in spite of the Green revolution. We don’t wish to see this tragic state to come to Arunachal.”  

Sridhar, R Programme Director Thanal and steering committee member of Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture, explained using a PowerPoint that heavy dependencies on a number of non-traditional seeds, have led to heavy use of commercial fertilizers, pesticides and depletion of water-resources. The resultant family impoverishment has created severe food supply imbalances, indebtedness and poverty-suicides. India never had food shortages since Independence, but only bottlenecks in distribution.

“People die of hunger, even as grains rot in gowdowns. What we need are not GM seeds for food security, but strengthening our own traditional food habits”, he said.

C Jayakumar, Director, Pesticide Action Network India elaborated on the terrible destruction of public health by the rampant misuse of pesticides, by quoting several instances from pesticides like Endosulfan, and how they struggled hard in a campaign to get it banned.  Lenneesh, Asstt State Coordinator explained about Thanal’s Rice Repository Nursery which has saplings of 206 rice varieties of South India.

Dr Ista Pulu, a senior research associate of RIWATCH thanked the faculty for coming all the way from Kerala to Arunachal at their own expense, to help spread educational awareness among the farmers, educated elite and the students.

The Thanal has offered to extend and share their expertise to Arunachal in the coming months.

 

 

State-sponsored Beauty & Spa trainees attend mid-term refresher course

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The 138 strong state-sponsored Beauty and Spa trainees of International Institute of Wellness Studies (IIWS) had a day-long refresher course at Greater Noida yesterday by Director, DBYC, Itanagar.  

The Refresher Course, an initiative of IIWS and DBYC was aimed at enabling the candidates to re-focus themselves on their person and career and go forward to placement with courage and confidence.  

The six-hour session held at AYATI, the training centre of IIWS at Greater Noida, was an occasion for the trainees to revise of some of the vital components of the 15 days Intensive Motivational Training programme they had undergone back home at Itanagar before their departure for Noida.

The sessions dealt with topics such as Value-Oriented living, Work Ethics, Team Work and the like.  Through the help of a twenty minutes’ short documentary, ‘Culture of Death’  the candidates were powerfully reminded of the negativities of life such as wrong use of the internet and the media, the deterioration of familial values, desire for easy money and the loss of the sense of sin.  

The Refresher Course was also an occasion for the candidates to meet each other and interact and exchange views.  

In the sharing session the participants expressed gratitude to the Government and especially to the Chief Minister whose visionary leadership has brought such blessings for young people.  

One of the most vocal of participants, Yapu Koyu said, “My life has totally changed for the better with this training.  I feel confident today and I know I can earn a living with the training here at IIWS.  All of us are grateful to our Chief Minister for giving us this wonderful opportunity.”

“It will be really nice if all Arunachalee boys and girls who are drop-outs or staying at home doing nothing take up this training.  It can change one’s life,” she opined.

Tai Sangma, another trainee remarked, “The training at IIWS is done very professionally and the instructors are well-experienced.  The facilities and equipments we have here are really world class”, she said adding that “This is a very expensive training which none of us could dream of under-going, except help from the Government.”  

All the students have expressed great satisfaction over the training and the facilities provided to them including food and accommodation.  

The trainees who are into the second half of the six months training will be signing up for further industrial training by January end and be placed into reputed companies.

 

 

APPSC defies HC order by not declaring result

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has stirred up a hornet’s nest once again by not complying with the direction of the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench.

Basing on a writ petition, the Court had on October 23 directed the Commission to publish the result of September 22 preliminary examination of APPSC combined competitive examination of 97  candidates who were initially barred from appearing the examination for their ‘minor mistakes’ on the application form but were allowed to sit after Court’s intervention.

“Since no affidavit or any application for extending the time for filling affidavit has been filed by the Commission in present case as directed by this Court, the APPSC is hereby directed to publish the results of preliminary examination held on 22 September on or before 28 October,” the Court directed.

The Itanagar Permanent Bench also directed the Commission to allow the petitioners to fill up the forms for main examination if they have qualified in the preliminary. “But the result of the final examination will be withheld by the Commission till the outcome of the writ petition,” it, however, added.

The last date for the submission of forms for the main examination is on October 31 but as the Chairman is out of the state on an official programme, the Commission is indecisive. Moreover, the High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench is on vacation till November 3.       

The aggrieved candidates on Monday met the officials and members of APPSC but were ‘pained’ by their ‘unhelpful attitude’. The aspirants were unanimous in their resentment against the Commission for not honouring the Court’s order and termed it as ‘deliberate act of unnecessary harassment’.

“31 is the last date for submission of forms for mains but the Commission is still indecisive even after the submission of Court’s directive order to them on 24 October last. Interestingly, the Commission is yet to file any affidavit in this regard,” complains one of the candidate outside the Commission office.

 

 

Assam orgs renew movement against  construction of Subansiri Lower Project

RUKSIN, Oct 29: Several Assam based organizations, including Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chattra Parishad (AJYCP) and others have renewed their movement against construction of Subansiri Lower Hydel Project executed by National Hydro-Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd.

Sticking to their earlier demand for scrapping of the hydel projects, the leaders said that they will stop the construction of the project at any cost.

The AJYCP, in active support of the protesting organizations, which have been demanding for the closure of construction work of the hydel project on Monday, warned the NHPC authority not to restart any construction work in the project site. They allege that the NHPC management is misleading the public with some ‘fake’ and ‘wrong’ publicity.

The leaders have demanded a tripartite talk involving the Central Government, NHPC, and representatives of all the anti–dam organizations.

They alleged that the NHPC authority is hatching conspiracy to mislead the people at down stream by not inviting anti-dam activists in its proposed October 31 meeting to discuss about its controversial project (SLP),

The construction work of the 2000 MW hydroelectric project, located at Gerukamukh along Assam-Arunachal boundary, has come to a halt in December 2011 after  Assam based organizations launched a series of agitations demanding immediate halt of the project work.  Later, Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy had sought the Centre’s intervention to end the ‘impasse’ over construction of SLP. The MP also sought the intervention of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Minister of State (independent charge) for Power Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia for a permanent solution to the problem.

Finally, NHPC has been given permission from the government to restart construction works of the hydel project June this year.

According to report, NHPC was directed to resume the construction works after Centre accepted the report submitted by the dam design review panel, constituted in December 2012..

 

 

All the major works completed, says contractor

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The war of words between contractor and executing agency PWD over non release of pending bill for state legislative assembly building project has escalated.

Reacting to the clarification of PWD, the general manager of contracting agency (joint venture of M/S Reniya Enterprise and Lotus Constructions Company) expressed dismay over imaginary bill statement given by the EE PWD.

“Regarding the imaginary bill charge, in this context it is clarified that the measurements of building was taken as per issued drawing along with work executed by us. The details of measurement along with abstract have been submitted to the Executive Engineer, PWD. Nothing new was added and every work has been carried in coordination with concern department. Therefore such kind of allegation is not acceptable to us,” said the general manager (GM) of the contracting agency. The GM also trashed the claim of regular payment of pending bills.

“The department did not release bill regularly which even general public of Arunachal Pradesh is aware of. As per Govt claim, the total released fund by the agency is Rs. 2762.59 Lakhs. However the total bill valued up to date is Rs. 19, 24, 07,231 including procurement of cement and steel along with S.D etc. i.e up to R/A 30th Bill. What happened to the remaining amount? The amount is either lying with the Govt, or Assembly Secretariat. Department should enquire on it,” continued the GM.

He added that consultancy fee cannot be paid from the project fund and state government has to keep separate budget for it. The general manager also clarified that contracting agency is sincerely working to ensure that legislative assembly building project is completed on schedule.

“All the major work is completed except erection of main hall column and beams. Let me repeat that if pending bills are cleared in right time, we will surely finish the work in March 2014,” asserted the GM.

 

 

Dance workshop cum concert at Roing

ROING, Oct 29: In a rare treat for dance enthusiasts in Roing last Saturday, Rhythm Dance Academy, Roing hosted the first ever Dance workshop cum Concert last Sunday bringing together over 20 dance professional groups and individuals from across the country.

The participants included Dance India Dance celebrity star and choreographer Master Sumeet Pendam from Mumbai, Master Shabbir Ahmed (co-host and choreographer) from Tinsukia, Assam, Master Ajay Agarwal (Assistant choreographer) from Baroda, Master A D Amrit from AD Crew Dance Academy, Tinsukia Assam, Master Imraan Ali from Lohit Rocks Dance Academy, Tezu.

According to Pooja Paullin Mene of Rhythm Dance Academy, the objective of the dance concert is to “encourage youths in cultural field, to give them chance to explore and express their talent.”

At the age of 21, she is brewing with creativity and has the courage to think differently. “This concert will help the youths in their personality development and enhance their leadership quality,” she says.

The dance concert was attended by Sipi Elapra, Zilla Parishad Chairperson and Kaling Pertin, Zilla Parishad Member, Dambuk.

Extending their full cooperation and support both the guests appreciated the idea of the dance programme and told the youths in particular to make their dance talent as career and to represent Arunachal Pradesh at national and global level.

Organized in collaboration with Arunachal Women and Child Welfare Society, the concert drew huge crowd enthralling all.

 

 

Workshop on ‘Financial Literacy and Investor Education’

ITANAGAR, Oct 29: JNC, Pasighat with active initiative of the Principal T Talom and Department of Commerce, organized a SEBI sponsored workshop on ‘Financial Literacy and Investor Education’ today.

Inaugurating the seminar, Principal Talom emphasized the need for financial literacy and investor education for each and everyone.  He further stated the relevance of the workshop for the commerce students viewing their career opportunities in Banks and Financial Institutions. He also praised the efforts of  the SEBI trained Financial Resource Persons Dr.MK Jana and Dr. DP Panda for organizing such workshops for the students.

Coordinator of the programme Dr.Jana emphasized on the different modules of the SEBI financial literacy and investor education programme.

In their power-point presentation, Dr.Jana and Dr. Panda highlighted on the different aspects of financial literacy and planning for young investors. They emphasized on early financial goal setting and financial planning for a secured future.

The Head of the Department of Commerce Dr. Naresh Kumar, opined that the financial planning is very important for every individual and students have a greater role to disseminate the knowledge for investor protection.

Faculties of Commerce Department Dr. S Drema, W Gyatso and M Mossang also actively participated in the workshop.

A total of 125 students of Commerce department actively participated in the workshop.

Apropos to the views expressed by Mr. Sanjay Yirang in your daily on 28th October, I just want to agree with him that whatever views he has expressed is true in view of the facts that many such private companies have time and again duped the innocent people of our state with a promise of double returns for investments in their companies but leave them in lurch after collecting crores of money. In this context, let me inform you and many other shareholders of Seba Real Estate Ltd. that when I got the information that Seba Real Estate Ltd. stopped the payment of redemptions for the matured one, I started to doubt their integrity and began to discuss the matter with many of my Marketing Executives (Agents) and together we formed an association i.e., All Arunachal Pradesh Seba Real Marketing Executives’ Welfare Association (AAPSREMEWA) for the protection as well as security of all Marketing Executives (Agents) of our state and started collecting all necessary documents relating to the company. I have contacted all branch offices of Seba Real Estate Ltd. established in various districts of Arunachal Pradesh and on various matters met Mr. Toko Obi, Executive Officer cum Agro Director and Mrs. Gojum Nyodu, Regional Marketing Manager, Seba Real Estate Ltd. Arunachal Pradesh as both of them represent the Management Board, Seba Real Estate Ltd. of Arunachal Pradesh. In order to confirm the matter, I have also met Mr. Siddhartha Nag, Managing Director, Seba Real Estate Ltd. at Siliguri in 2012 who assured me that the company has invested all collected money in various projects like Hotel River View Inn & Green View Restaurant at Naharlagun, Arunachal Green Guest House at New Delhi and Banana Garden at Pam village in East Siang District, as a result, payment of all the redemptions had to be stopped temporarily but will be paid without further delay. Against this backdrop, I had convened a number of meetings at Hotel River View Inn inviting all the Marketing Executives (Agents), Marketing Managers, Development Officers and Shareholders of all branches of state but the most prominent of these was the joint meeting of October 10 & October 23, 2013 in which we have held both Executive Officer cum Agro Director and Regional Marketing Manager, Seba Real Estate Ltd. responsible for financial embezzlement and mismanagement leading to all these emerging predicaments of the company. Acknowledging their liability, they have signed a Letter of Agreement in which they were directed by the Association to bring Mr. Siddhartha Nag, MD to Itanagar within 30 days to resolve the ongoing crisis failing which other course of actions shall be taken against all of them. Apart from that, an Adhoc Committee was formed the members of the association to make a thorough study on all the invested projects of the state such as Hotel River View Inn & Green View Restaurant at Naharlagun, Green View Guest House at New Delhi and Banana Garden at Pam village etc. and thereby judiciously resolve the ongoing crisis. Further, we have intimated to the land owner and leaseholder of Hotel River View Inn, Naharlagun and leaseholder of Green View Restaurant, Naharlagun not to deposit the lease fees/rents into the account of Mr. Siddhartha Nag, MD and also about the necessary steps to be taken by them in coming days since crores of our money have been invested on these establishments.

In fact, all the resolutions adopted at these meeting are available with me in both hard and soft copies and any shareholders of the company can get these from me.

All said and done, I do agree with your contention that all these people involved in fraudulent activities and looting money of the credulous people of our state must definitely be punished for all their misdeeds if they fail to return all our deposited hard earned money. But given the facts that they have assured to sort out the problem at the earliest, let us wait for some more days till 23rd November, 2013 as per agreement as well as resolutions made at the Joint meeting of 23rd October.

Stop harassing citizen

Dear Editor,

First of all let me tell that am sick and tired of these bandh calls. As per I know these bandh callers are inhuman and insensitive persons. Have not they learned from Assam, Manipur and West Bengal who all are suffering because of bandh culture? Once the most prosperous state today West Bengal is battling backwardness due to years of bandh culture. We don’t have to go that far also; our neighbor Assam is an example. Despite huge natural resources presence Assam is still a backward state. All these are because of bandh culture. I would like to ask capital administration do they really make any arrest or just for sake of issuing press release they declare bandh call as illegal. I will be carefully reading news item in the next few days and if no bandh caller is arrested, I will lose trust on capital administration.

Coming to these useless bandh callers, please stop justifying your bandh call saying you are doing this and that for us. The people of Arunachal are not fool. Just because we keep quite does not mean that we don’t know anything. As its election year many unions and associations are being used by politicians for their personal benefit. Everybody knows that behind every bandh call in capital, there are big politicians in the backdrop. These unions and associations are just puppet. So, stop harassing poor citizen for your personal gain. There are many other better ways of earning money. Do hard work and live dignified life. While writing this letter also I feel like Iam wasting my time and energy because I am sure that those illiterate association and union letters will not be reading this.

Bandh call: A total failure

Dear Editor,

There have been more than 100s of bandh calls since last 2-3 years, but none of the bandh call has yielded any positive results hitherto.  Never heard! That the government has acted as per any particular bandh call. So, it is evidently proved that band call does not bring out any solution to social issues. Despite of this, I wonder why these associations declare bandh call repeatedly, when they are very much aware of the fact that it does not bring out any result. They should know that it harasses the common public, instead of harassing the government.  

The charismatic leader like Anna Hazare who had the nationwide support of the people, could not bring any difference to the system.  I wonder what difference these pockets of bandh caller would make.  Instead the mass movement led by Mr. Anna became the one of most significant factors in rupee depreciation, which is one of the factors of high inflation, finally, harassment to common public.  These bandh calls disturbs the economic balance of the state.

Our charismatic bandh caller should learn from Mr. Arvind Kejriwal , who read the situation very clearly that if you want to bring change in society, you need to be part of the system. That’s why he formed AAP (Aam admi party) and trying to enter into system by contesting in coming elections, and then to bring change in the system.  In my opinion this is only and right way to solve the social issue, not by absurd bandh calling. One needs to be part of the system if he really wants to bring change in system.  One needs to take the legitimate way to bring solution to social issues, not the illegal way like bandh call. This is for the union who really care for public welfare. But to the union who uses this bandh call for their personal gain, to have some pie of central funds, they should know someone is watching them from sky. For them, a quote, “Every human being pays the price of his misdeeds in later part of his life.” Sooner or later, the curse of common people will haunt them down.

Sometimes we read in the paper that this XYZ union had called off his bandh call because govt. has explained them the problem regarding the issues to which the XYZ union called a bandh. This signifies short sightedness and immaturity of that particular union.  This means that particular union has directly jumped into bandh call without any talks with the govt. It is totally rubbish!

Everyday there is letter published in Readers Forum column of this daily from common people urging for no more bandh calls. One should feel the pain of their writings. They are writing on behalf of the general masses.

Lastly, I leave it to their (bandh callers) wisdom but they should know that it is the people who are suffering not the government.  So, I request them to understand the sufferings of masses as well. Success is of no use it there is no one to see it. On our part, APPSC mains are in December and these bandh calls are disturbing our classes. We have handful of days with vast syllabus to cover.  So, kindly opt for other better and effective means of protest as to me bandh call is total failure in bringing the solution, instead it is making you guys (band callers) very much unpopular in the masses.

Puroik community needs special attention

In a welcome development Union Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 3111 additional houses for the Puroik community of Arunachal Pradesh. These include 780 houses in East Kameng, 331 in Papum Pare and 2000 houses in Kurung Kumey districts under the Indira Awaas Yojana for the financial year 2013-14. This is over and above the normal allocation for Arunachal Pradesh. This information was conveyed to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki by Union RD Minister Jairam Ramesh during a meeting yesterday at New Delhi.

The Puroik community also known as Sulung is one of most marginalized communities of state. In compare to other community of state, Puroik has still long way to go. Along with housing facilities, the community needs special attention in education and health care sector. It is believed that majority of Puroiks are still living in deep jungles with minimal access to health and education facilities. They have to be integrated with mainstream Arunachal so that they feel at home. The sanctioning of 3111 additional houses for the Puroik community under IAY is wonderful news. It is hoped that fund meant for Puroik community should be used for them only and not for others.
